Merchantwise has secured a licensing partnership between Sony Pictures Consumer Products and the Jitsy Club for a Cobra Kai-themed martial arts product range.
Based on Sony Pictures’ Karate Kid franchise, Cobra Kai is a TV series that takes place 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament from the original Karate Kid movie.
The series follows the fictional characters Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence as they reignite their childhood rivalry through competing Karate dojos.
“I’ve loved Cobra Kai for a long time, so being able to release a range with Sony Pictures Consumer Products is a dream come true,” said Jitsy Club co-founder, Nick Richards. “We’re so excited for this project to come to life and hear what our customers think.”
Jitsy Club is an Australian athletic apparel company that creates high-quality martial arts gear and apparel. The new Jitsy Club products include two styles of officially licensed Cobra Kai training shorts, rash guards and gis. The two product styles are based on the slogans ‘Cobra Kai Never Dies’, and ‘Sweep The Leg’.
Available in both adult and childrens’ sizes, each product in the collection features the Jitsy Club logo, stylized Cobra Kai graphic art and one of the two themed slogans.
“I am thrilled to see this exciting Cobra Kai program with Jitsy Club come to martial arts life,” said Merchantwise MD, Kerryn McCormack. “Jitsy Club has created an incredible range of martial arts gear that shows no mercy – and will absolutely be popular with adults and kids alike.”
The limited-edition Cobra Kai x Jitsy Club product collection is currently available for purchase from the official Jitsy Club e-commerce website.
Merchantwise is a full-service licensing agency that specializes in brand extensions and retail programs for gaming, digital and entertainment brands in Australia and New Zealand.
