Hasbro has announced plans for an extensive array of products, promotions, experiences and content throughout 2024 for the 40th anniversary of its Transformers franchise.
“Beloved since its inception in 1984, Transformers has evolved from an innovative toy line into a powerhouse franchise embraced by millions of fans around the world,” said Hasbro VP, Alyse D’Antuono.
“The past four decades continuously delivered a ‘more than meets the eye’ experience for fans by introducing new toys and games, as well as thrilling storytelling in animated shows, comics, blockbuster films and much more,” added D’Antuono. “As we build the next chapter in the Transformers universe, we look forward to celebrating one legacy for another 40 years.”
The Transformers anniversary activations will include numerous licensing partnership across music, toys, publishing, fashion, electronic accessories, collectibles, entertainment and more.
The music-focused releases include a fortieth anniversary vinyl album called Transformers: Music from the Original Animated Series.
In addition, the JLab audio company is creating a line of Transformers-themed headphones and earbuds.
In the fashion category, Mad Engine and RSVLTS are both developing licensed Transformers apparel collections to coincide with the brands’ 40th anniversary.
Several high-quality toy manufacturing partners have been selected by Hasbro for licensed Transformers Anniversary products.
The upcoming toy collections will include a new auto-converting robot model from Robosen, two die-cast Transformers x Ghostbusters model vehicles from Jada Toys, as well as new Blind Box, ReAction, and Super Cyborg branded character toys from Super7.
Additional collections include new Transformers Pop! figures from Funko and limited-edition Transformers MDLX figurines from ThreeZero.
In the collectibles category, FiGPiN is launching 6” formats for their Optimus Prime and Megatron enamel pin designs and New Zealand Mint has signed on for limited-edition silver collectible coins based on the Transformers franchise.
The first limited-edition coin release will be based on the first comic cover featured in the Transformers series.
In publishing, Skybound Entertainment is launching comic books and graphic novel collections based on the Transformers series.
This will include an Energon Universe crossover series and a graphic novel compendium for Marvel Comics Transformers series.
Dynamite Entertainment is launching a new set of licensed trading cards based on Transformers Generation One.
The cards will feature characters from the Transformers brand and showcase classic styles from an array of artists from Hasbro’s design archives.
A promotional initiative is also being held by the automotive service company, Monro.
The program will include limited-edition offers, giveaways and more at participating Monro locations across the U.S.
The 40th anniversary celebration includes For entertainment media, Paramount is launching a second season of the original Transformers: Earthspark series and a fully CG-animated film called Transformers One.
A special Transformers-themed episode of The Masked Singer TV show will also be premiering this Spring on Fox.
In addition to these licensing collaborations, Hasbro Pulse will be hosting a Hasbro Pulse Fanstream and weekly fan-focused content for the Transformers Anniversary Celebration.
Over 40 distinct Hasbro Transformers anniversary figures will be made available throughout the year-long celebration.
Updates on these projects and other entertainment content planned during Transformers 40th anniversary year will be released by Hasbro throughout the year.
