Mondelēz International has partnered with Nintendo for the release of limited-edition Super Mario-themed Oreo cookies.
The limited-edition Oreo x Super Mario cookies feature 16 designs based on heroes, villains and power-ups from the Super Mario entertainment franchise.
Each Oreo cookie pack will include a random assortment of the Super Mario designs.
“Oreo is always looking to bring new offerings to our fans and we are thrilled to unveil this super partnership with the iconic Super Mario franchise,” said Oreo SBM, Vishnu Nair. “There are so many playful synergies between Oreo and Super Mario, it was a no-brainer for us to team up to connect fans of all ages through this delightfully playful cookie collaboration.”
The licensing partnership will also feature a promotional social media campaign that challenges consumers to defeat Bowser by stacking Super Mario hero cookies atop a Bowser villain cookie on the edge of a milk cup until the cookies topple into the milk.
“We hope to unite cookie lovers and Super Mario enthusiasts alike with this playful mission, inspired by a storyline fans know all too well,” added Nair. “We may even reveal a surprise as a thank you to those who successfully defeat Bowser and save the kingdom… Fans will have to wait and see!”
Initially launched in 1912, Oreo is a sandwich cookie brand that is currently available for purchase in more than 100 countries around the globe. The multinational snack company Mondelēz International has owned the rights to the Oreo brand since its acquisition in 2012.
The Oreo x Super Mario cookies are available for pre-sale on the official OREO website. The product will launch at retailers across the U.S. for a limited time starting on July 10, 2023.
