The social adventure game Sky: Children of the Light and the Moomin brand are teaming up for a special collaboration, with Season of Moomin available now through December 29, 2024.
Built on Sky and Moomin’s shared themes of creativity, connection and diversity, this partnership invites gamers to experience an emotional story that explores trauma, healing and self-acceptance.
The partnership with Sky was negotiated by U.S. licensing agent, King Features Syndicate, on behalf of Moomin Characters.
In the licensing collaboration, the Moomins are featured in Sky: Children of the Light, an online kingdom where players of all ages and skill levels can connect with each other through quests and encounters with Spirits.
Combining Sky’s dreamlike landscapes with Moomin’s whimsical characters, the Season of Moomin tells the story of Ninny, the Invisible Child from the Moomin franchise. Players accompany Ninny as she overcomes her fears and gains self-confidence.
This season introduces a new visual style inspired by the story and themes from the Moomin collaboration. Throughout the story, Sky’s black-and-white world gradually blooms into vivid color to symbolize Ninny’s inspiring transformation.
Sky’s Season of Moomin event includes double the amount of Fetch Quests found in a typical season, as well as Moomin-inspired character customization items such as a Moomin plushie, ears and tail and a Ninny outfit.
“As we continue to bring fans both new and old more ways to celebrate Moomin, we are excited to work with partners like Sky that align so perfectly with Moomin brand values while offering a unique experience to interact with the beloved Moomin characters in a fun, creative setting,” said King Features senior director, Christina Nix-Lynch.
The Moomins first appeared in print in 1945 and went on to star in a series of illustrated books, short stories, comics and novels by Finnish-Swedish artist and author Tove Jansson.
The books have been translated into more than 60 languages and have inspired stage adaptations, TV series, films, games, music, exhibitions, and theme parks.
