Disguise has signed a global, multi-year agreement with SEGA of America to gain the sole licensing rights for Sonic the Hedgehog costumes.
A subsidiary of JAKKS Pacific, Disguise is a licensed costume design company that offers an extensive portfolio of products through its growing network of global distribution partners.
This new collaboration will allow the company to design and manufacture an expanded range of items based on characters from the core Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
The range will include costumes, masks, accessories and seasonal offerings that will be distributed across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
“Securing sole rights to the Sonic the Hedgehog core IP for costumes was a strategic priority for us, as it aligns seamlessly with our growing global distribution network,” said Disguise president Tara Cortner. “Disguise has a proven track record of delivering imaginative, high-quality costumes that truly capture the essence of beloved characters for kids, adults and fans alike,” added Cortner. “We are proud to be partnering further with SEGA of America on all iterations of the Sonic franchise and the amazing characters they bring to life through their popular games and record-breaking theatrical films.”
Prior to this multi-year agreement, Disguise and SEGA of America had previously teamed up to develop costume lines for several properties within the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
This included full costume ranges for Sonic Prime, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
“We have seen an overwhelmingly positive response from fans worldwide to the Sonic the Hedgehog costumes produced by Disguise,” said SEGA of America licensing director, Alex Gomez. “As Sonic’s popularity continues to soar, we are thrilled to work with Disguise in developing against our core IP, ensuring that fans have access to top-quality costume options that allow them to engage with their favorite characters in immersive and exciting ways.”
Officially licensed by SEGA of America, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise debuted more than three decades ago as a series of arcade video games.
Since its initial debut, the franchise has been featured across dozens of games, TV series, movies, licensed products and more.
SEGA of America serves as the North American division of the Japan-based entertainment company, SEGA Corporation.
