ZAG is launching a licensed series called Fairyon for its new direct-to-streaming division ZAG Stream.
The company’s direct-to-streaming content business will be led by Maria Doolan, ZAG’s SVP of TV Content.
The first project from ZAG Stream is the animated superhero fantasy series, Fairyon. Fairyon is a reimagining of classic fairytale characters with a superhero twist.
“Classic fairytales have entertained audiences for hundreds of years, and we are taking some of the most famous characters and transporting them to a mystical and inspirational world of Fairyon,” said Jeremy Zag, Founder and CEO of ZAG.
“The first twelve standalone episodes will each feature a new character, but only in the last episode will the clues to the story become clear when, for the first time in history, they all unite. As the studio and team behind Miraculous, we are so excited to take these evergreen fairytale characters and retell their stories for today’s audiences.”
The upcoming Fairyon series features popular fairytale characters such as Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin, Gretel, Cinderella, and Jack as a powerful superhero team. The characters goal is to prevent a Mysterious Knight from freeing villains imprisoned in a Magic Mirror.
Fairyon is an episodic series produced by Jeremy Zag and created and directed by Nathanaël Bronn. Bronn also serves as the art director for ZAG’s most popular series, Miraculous — Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Currently in pre-production, the details of the new streaming project will be revealed to buyers at the upcoming MIPCOM.
ZAG is a global independent entertainment studio that specializes in story-driven narratives across TV, film, and digital platforms.
The studio is also currently in production on Melody, an animated feature starring Katy Perry; and recently signed a 10-movie deal with Cross Creek Pictures.
