King Features Syndicate and PUCK HCKY have entered a licensing partnership for a collection of hockey-themed Popeye apparel.
The Popeye entertainment franchise is owned by the international production and distribution company, King Features. A division of Hearst Newspapers, King Features Syndicate specializes in content syndication, character licensing and franchise development.
The deal with PUCK HCKY was negotiated by Segal Licensing, King Feature’s Canadian licensing agent.
“Popeye is one of the most recognized characters around the world,” said PUCK HCKY CEO, Matt Marini.
“Who isn’t a fan of the Sailor Man? Combining such an iconic feature with hockey and streetwear style is our way of putting a fresh new spin on such a classic. We at PUCK HCKY are big fans and are so excited to get this collection to all the fans!”
PUCK HCKY is a hockey-focused apparel brand that specializes in creating streetwear and sportswear collections. PUCK HCKY is known for its licensing collaborations with music and entertainment brands such as Alice Cooper, Gojira, Metallica, and more.
“As a tough underdog who never backs down from a fight, Popeye is a hero that hockey fans can relate to both on and off the rink,” said King Feature’s Jarred Goro. “We are so excited about the way PUCK HCKY brings together sport and art through their designs and we can’t wait to see fans interact with these new streetwear pieces.”
The co-branded Popeye x PUCK HCKY collection includes jerseys, hockey pucks, flannel, raglan, and T-shirts that feature graphic art and quotes from the Popeye character.
The Popeye x PUCK HCKY streetwear line is currently available for purchase at PUCK HCKY’s official e-commerce website.
