BBC Studios has partnered with Outright Games to develop a licensed video game based on the Bluey childrens’ series.
Outright Games is a global company that specializes in developing and publishing family-friendly video games based on licensed entertainment brands.
“We’re delighted to be working with Outright Games on Bluey’s first video game,” said BBC Studios head, Kevin Jorge. “It’s very important for us to capture the essence of fun and games that is central to the series. We know fans will be excited to explore Bluey’s world and join in with the Heeler family’s antics.”
Bluey: The Videogame will feature episodic story-driven gameplay, multiplayer capabilities, themed mini games such as Keepy Uppy and Magic Xylophone, multiple difficulty levels, open world exploration, and more.
The interactive game will allow players to explore locations from the Bluey series, take control of up to four playable characters and earn in-game rewards such as costumes, stickers, and playable episodes.
The plot of the game involves a new four-part storyline that was co-created by Artax Games, BBC Studios and the show’s producers at Ludo Studio.
Several of the Bluey music tracks from series’ composer Joff Bush will be featured on the game’s soundtrack alongside new music created by the development team.
“We’re incredibly excited to be working with BBC Studios as a brand-new licensing partner for Outright Games and to help expand the phenomenal world of Bluey into video games,” said Outright Games COO Stephanie Malham.
“It is always our goal to create games that can act as an entry point to the world of video games and to some of the most important entertainment franchises on the planet like Bluey,” Malham added. “It’s a thrill for us to bring Bluey’s world to life with a level of interactivity that has never been seen before and by ensuring that the game is accessible and enjoyable for all ages we know fans across the globe will be delighted.”
Bluey: The Videogame is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 17, 2023.
