Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books are publishing an official sequel to Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! called How The Grinch Lost Christmas!.
A division of Penguin Random House LLC, Random House Children’s Books is a publishing company that creates books for toddlers through young adult in all literary formats. Random House is the longstanding publisher of the bestselling Dr. Seuss book franchise.
The new sequel marks the first time that Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books have expanded Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! narrative since it was originally published in 1957.
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of the most beloved holiday celebration books of all time. Adding to that legacy with a sequel is a process we have carefully considered, and we love what the author and illustrator have created,” said Dr. Seuss Enterprises CEO, Susan Brandt.
“We feel it will be yet another heartwarming piece of Seussian literature that will help families around the world grow their hearts three more sizes as they celebrate the holidays for decades to come.”
How The Grinch Lost Christmas! will feature a foil-enhanced jacket and full-color illustrations and writing in the style of the original book. The new story was created by author Alastair Heim and artist Aristides Ruiz. It is set one year after the Grinch stole Christmas from Who-ville and focuses on the character’s difficulties maintaining his Christmas spirit.
“One of the most asked questions we receive from Seuss fans of all ages is ‘What do you think happened to the Grinch after he stole Christmas?’ We are excited to finally be able to answer this question and have the magic of Grinchmas live on with this new book brought to life by Alastair Heim and Aristides Ruiz,” said Dr. Seuss Publishing editor, Alice Jonaitis.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises is a global entertainment company focused on promoting the works of Dr. Seuss through publishing, film, TV, stage productions, digital media, licensed merchandise, and more.
