The Esquire media brand has launched a licensing partnership with Michael Malul for a line of masculine fragrances based on American literature.
“Collaborating with Esquire on this line of fragrances has been rewarding from start to finish,” said Michael Malul CEO, Hanan Malul. “We had the pleasure of diving into Esquire’s incredible history, and its inspiring trajectory, to bring it to life through fragrances. The result is something very special that we’re excited for people to experience.”
Inspired by the Esquire brand’s extensive literary history, the new fragrance collection from Michael Malul includes four distinct scents called American Novelist, Modern Poet, New Journalist and Editor in Chief.
The American Novelist product features fragrance notes such as bergamot, leather, and cedar.
Modern Poet is a herbal fragrance that includes notes of matcha, gin and patchouli.
New Journalist is a lighter fragrance with notes of apple leaf, blue lavender and sandalwood.
Editor-in-Chief is a bold fragrance that features scents like clove, labdanum and tonka bean.
Michael Mulal’s perfume development team took inspiration from notable contributors to Esquire’s publications such as novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald, avante garde poet E.E. Cummings, modern journalist Tom Wolfe and the media brand’s various editors-in-chief.
Additional fragrances will be added to the Esquire x Michael Mulal collection throughout the next few years.
“Our readers have an insatiable appetite for stories about men’s fragrance and grooming,” said Esquire editor-in-chief, Michael Sebastian. “And we’ve been talking about developing men’s fragrances for years. After the successful launch of our jewelry line, this felt like the right time to do it. It’s the natural next step in creating products that will resonate with our readers.”
Available in 100ml bottles, the licensed fragrances are currently available for purchase through the official Michael Malul website.
The collection will be released on Amazon and at major retail companies across the U.S. at a later date.
Initially published in 1933, Esquire is a luxury American media and lifestyle brand that caters to affluent men.
Owned by Hearst Magazines, Esquire currently publishes 20 editions of its publication in regions around the world.
The collaboration between Esquire and Michael Malul was facilitated by the global licensing division of IMG.
