The week-long Grand Opening ceremony for Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro at the West Edmonton Mall is set to begin on Dec. 17, 2022.
West Edmonton Mall is a Canadian mixed-use entertainment and retail complex that is home to more than 800 stores and services.
The upcoming event will celebrate the completion of the first phase of construction for the Hasbro-themed amusement park. The first phase of the park includes over a dozen rides and games based on the Hasbro-owned brands Trouble, My Little Pony, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly, Operation, Play-Doh, and more.
“We’re thrilled for the opening celebration of Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro and to offer this new experience to families,” said Hasbro’s Matt Proulx.
“With celebrated brands that parents, grandparents and kids of all ages recognize, this amusement park showcases Hasbro’s immense brand-building capabilities through such unique and exciting real-life experiences.”
The event is open to the public and will be the first-time guests can see the transformed Main Gate grand entrance. The newly renovated entrance features custom curved columns and facades of licensed characters from Hasbro’s brands. The event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a parade led by Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly’s Rich Uncle Pennybags and more.
Guests can participate in the Ride Passport game for a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes while experiencing the newly themed rides and activities. There will be daily prize giveaways on-site, mascot meet and greets, live entertainment, online contests, face painting and other on-site activities to kick off the new attractions.
The second phase of Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro is scheduled for completion in 2023. A total of three and a half acres of space in the West Edmonton Mall is set to be transformed into Hasbro-themed rides for the Galaxyland amusement park.
Hasbro is a global play and entertainment conglomerate that delivers branded experiences through consumer products, entertainment media, and experiential attractions.
