Funko has announced an update to its official Funko app that incorporates new collection valuation capabilities powered by eBay transaction data.
Scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2023, Funko’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) catalog app will be revamped to include the new eBay valuation feature.
The new eBay data integration for the Funko app is intended to aid the brand’s collector community in accurately pricing their collections by connecting the Funko catalog with verified sales data from the eBay marketplace. The valuations will be based on the average sales price of each Funko item listed throughout the global eBay marketplace.
This new update is part of a collaborative partnership between Funko and eBay that has been in place since 2022.
“With over a million Funko collectors using the Funko app to manage their collections, providing informed valuation metrics for the fans is a top priority,” said Funko SVP, Johanna Gepford. “eBay is our preferred partner for secondary marketplace sales, and we’re thrilled to provide Funko collectors with frictionless access to real marketplace data, so they can better understand the value of their collections.”
Since announcing their commercial partnership agreement in 2022, the two companies have been working together to provide new streamlined experiences for the Funko collector community.
This includes features like the dedicated List it on eBay button in the Funko app and access to exclusive product drops through Funko’s eBay storefront.
“As a top destination for collectibles connecting millions of sellers and buyers around the world, we’re always looking for new ways to deliver an amazing customer experience and help enthusiasts make informed decisions,” said eBay VP, Gene Cook. “In 2022 Funko was searched about 13,000 times per hour on eBay globally, reinforcing the popularity and high collectability of these items. We’re excited to work alongside Funko to bring more innovation and exciting new features to the collecting community.”
