Genius Brands has announced the formation of a new music publishing division called Genius Music.
The newly-created Genius Music division will focus on developing and monetizing music publishing rights through the company’s global network of streaming platforms and broadcast outlets.
Juan Carlos Quintero has been appointed as the head of Genius Music.
“At Genius Music, we are creating a 21st century music library from the ground up,” said Quintero. “I am actively curating seasoned composers and serving as executive music producer to ensure a comprehensive buildout of a vast music library, covering a range of genres (EDM, Chill, Indie Rock, Alternative, Game, Trailer, World, Americana, Latin, etc.),” added Quintero.
“Through Genius Brands’ exclusive partnerships and representation with international music publishers and distributors, the newly formed library is poised to achieve significant revenue worldwide, in one of the most important sectors of the entertainment industry.”
Quintero brings over 30 years of experience in the music industry as both a business executive and creative artist. Prior to joining Genius Music, Quintero held various positions at music-focused production companies such as Warner Chappell, Funrise, Megatrax, Moonda Records, Saban Brands, and more.
Under Quintero’s leadership, Genius Music plans to create multiple revenue streams through the production and distribution of soundtracks for the company’s extensive IP portfolio. Quintero played a similar role at Saban Brands, where he was Head of Music working with several global children’s brands, including Power Rangers, Digimon, Poppies, Paul Frank, Julius Jr., and more.
“We began laying the groundwork for Genius Music last year,” said Quintero. “Given the vast library of IP Genius Brands owns across our own library, as well as WOW! and YFE’s catalog, we envision significant new revenue streams via distribution and licensing on streaming channels, music platforms and sync licensing throughout all media.”
Genius Music will launch a production music library of over eight thousand original production tracks that are designed and produced for content creators on Genius Brands’ Frederator Network. The Frederator Network is a subsidiary of Genius’ Brands Canadian affiliate, Wow! Unlimited Media.
In addition, new production music assets are being developed for the Shaq’s Garage animated series. This will include over a thousand minutes of original music content.
Genius Brands International is a global kids media company that develops, produces, markets and licenses branded children’s entertainment properties and consumer products for media and retail distribution.
