USA Basketball has announced a licensing partnership with Glossier to become an official beauty sponsorship partner for the USA Women’s National Team.
As part of the partnership, Glossier will gift the players from the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s National Team with packages of skincare, makeup and beauty products that will coincide with the team’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics and the upcoming USA Basketball exhibition game in London, England.
The licensing sponsorship partnership will also include a range of co-branded social media content, out-of-home advertisements and community engagement initiatives that will start officially rolling out this summer.
“We’re excited to build on our long-running partnership with the WNBA, and bring it to new heights with USA Basketball,” said Glossier CEO, Kyle Leahy. “There’s been a long-standing notion that beauty and sports don’t mix, and this partnership underscores the fact that that’s simply not true. The USA Women’s National Team is full of inspiring athletes with stories to tell both on and off the court, we are thrilled to shine a light on them.”
Since the teams’ first participation in 1976 where they received a silver medal, the USA Women’s National Basketball Team has received medals at every Olympics tournament that it has participated in.
Starting at the 1996 Atlanta Games, the USA Women’s National Teamhas won seven consecutive gold medals at the global sports event.
The team has won a total of nine gold Olympic medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal across all of their participations in the Olympic Games.
This new sponsorship from Glossier marks the first USA Basketball partnership that is exclusive to the Women’s National Team since the 1995 to 1996 season.
“It’s an important time for women’s basketball in our country,” said Women’s National Team director Briana Weiss. “The USA Basketball-Glossier partnership is further proof of the growth of our sport and interest in our team.”
In addition to being the first women’s team specific partnership in nearly two decades, the Glossier sponsorship agreement marks the first official beauty partner in the entire history of the professional USA Basketball organization.
Glossier is a beauty company that designs, manufactures and distributes a wide range of makeup, skin care and fragrance products.
Considered the national governing body for the sport of basketball in the United States, USA Basketball is responsible for the selection and training of USA teams for FIBA-sponsored basketball competitions and select national events.
