Italy’s largest theme park will open a new attraction this year based on the Jumanji films from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Gardaland says the new Jumanji – The Labyrinth attraction will offer adventure-lovers of all ages an exclusive and immersive experience to submerge themselves in the wonderfully wild world of Jumanji.
Gardaland Resort is an amusement park located in northeastern Italy. Opened in 1975, the resort includes Gardaland Park, Gardaland Sea-Life, Legoland Waterpark, Gardaland Hotel, Adventure Hotel, and Magic Hotel. The park is adjacent to Lake Garda, the largest lake in the country, located in the north between Venice and Milan.
The entire complex covers an area of 445,000 square meters (4,789,940 sq ft), while the theme park alone measures 200,000 square meters (2,152,782 sq ft). Sporting both traditional attractions and entertainment shows, Gardaland attracts nearly 3 million visitors every year. Gardaland is owned by the UK-based company Merlin Entertainments.
Located at the heart of Gardaland, next to the existing Jumanji the Adventure ride, the new Labyrinth attraction will provide a unique and exciting way for guests to fully immerse themselves into the world of Jumanji. Will they be able to survive the innumerable pitfalls and surprises of this intricate and intriguing maze to save Jumanji??
“After successful launch of Jumanji – The Adventure last year we are delighted to be working with Merlin and Gardaland again to offer a brand-new adventure for 2023, where guests can further immerse themselves in the adventurous world of Jumanji,” said Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Jeffrey Godsick.
Godsick is the Executive Vice-chairman of Global Partnerships and Brand Management, and also Head of Location-Based Entertainment for SPE.
“The premier theme park in Italy – Gardaland – just got even better thanks to our long-time partners at Sony Pictures Entertainment,” said Merlin Entertainments CEO Scott O’Neil. “We are delighted that we are announcing Jumanji – The Labyrinth at Gardaland. Continuing to bring the Jumanji world to life for our guests is an absolute dream come true for our growing number of visitors at the Resort, and even more fun for our award winning creative teams of Merlin Magic Makers.
“Increasingly, brands are looking for ways to connect with their audiences by bringing those film/stars to life and Merlin Entertainments is the one unencumbered theme parks and attractions business with the scale needed to connect with fans around the world,” added O’Neil.
Merlin is one of the world’s largest location-based entertainment companies. It operates more than 130 sites, as well as 19 hotels and six holiday villages in 25 countries across 4 continents.
