Krispy Kreme has launched a licensed Ghostbuster’s doughnut collection in partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to celebrate the original film’s 40th anniversary.
The Ghostbusters 40th anniversary menu items include a selection of four doughnuts offered in a custom Ghostbusters box, as well as a new drink called Slimer’s Slime-ade.
“Yes it’s true, these treats are no trick. When it comes to Halloween this year, you know who to call,” said Krispy Kreme CBO, Dave Skena. “Krispy Kreme is the gatekeeper to Halloween sweetness and Sony Pictures Consumer Products is the ‘key master’ to bring spooky-sweet Ghostbusters doughnuts to our fans this year. You’re welcome, Gozer.”
Inspired by characters, themes and icons from the classic 1984 Ghostbusters movie, the licensed doughnut varieties are called the Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Oreo Doughnut, the Slimer Doughnut, the Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut Pull-Apart.
The Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Oreo Doughnut features an Original Glazed doughnut base that is dipped in chocolate icing, covered with OREO pieces and a dollop of OREO buttercreme and topped with a No Ghost logo shaped candy. The OREO pieces and flavoring included in the doughnut are used under license from Mondelēz International.
The Slimer Doughnut is an unglazed doughnut that features a lemon-flavored green filling, a purple and green icing topping and a candy garnish that is shaped like Slimer.
The Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut is an Original Glazed doughnut dipped in orange-colored icing and topped with neon sprinkles.
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut Pull-Apart features Original Glazed Doughnut Dots with a powdered topping, marshmallow flavored buttercreme and a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man candy.
