Rovio Entertainment is launching an original animated series called Angry Birds Mystery Island in partnership with Amazon Kids+ and Prime Video.
Featuring new licensed characters from Rovio Entertainment’s Angry Birds gaming franchise, the upcoming animated series will follow three hatchlings and a piglet called Buddy, Mia, Rosie and Hamylton as they work together to unravel mysteries after getting stranded on a secluded island.
“It has been amazing to see the Hatchlings’ transmedia journey from movies to games, and now embarking on their own adventure in the Mystery Island series,” said Rovio VP, Hanna Valkeapää-Nokkala. “We are thrilled to continue the tradition of bringing joy to audiences with characters and stories that transcend screens, capturing hearts and imaginations across various platforms and mediums.”
The licensing rights to the Angry Birds franchise is owned by Rovio Entertainment and its parent company Sega Europe Limited.
Rovio Entertainment is a global interactive gaming company that specializes in creating, developing and publishing mobile games and entertainment IP.
Since its initial launch as a mobile game in 2009, the Angry Birds franchise has expanded to include a broad range of games, animated content, publishing, licensed consumer products and more.
The Angry Birds Mystery Island series was created by showrunner Eric Rogers and produced by Amazon MGM Studios’ Amazon Kids+ division and Titmouse Inc.
The first season of Angry Birds Mystery Island is scheduled to launch simultaneously on Amazon Kids+ and Prime Video on May 21, 2024.
Amazon Kids+ is a kid-focused streaming service and media platform that features an extensive library of kid-friendly content such as age-appropriate books, games, videos, music, apps and the Alexa Skills service.
