The video game franchise Minecraft has released a limited-edition accessory line with the retail brand Smiggle.
The deal between Minecraft and Smiggle was brokered by licensing agency Merchantwise on behalf of the Minecraft brand. Merchantwise focuses on gaming, digital, and entertainment licensing for the Australia and New Zealand markets.
“We are thrilled to have secured this exciting and incredibly successful global partnership for Minecraft with Smiggle,” said Kerryn McCormack, Merchantwise’s Managing Director. “The Minecraft brand lends itself perfectly to all things stationery and accessories and we are already seeing many Minecraft fans racing into stores to get their hands on pieces from this limited-edition collection.”
The Minecraft video game franchise was originally developed by Mojang Studios. In 2014, Mojang Studios and the Minecraft brand were acquired by Xbox Game Studios, a part of Microsoft’s gaming division.
The Minecraft franchise includes several spin-off games, a line of consumer products, marketplace content, books, and an upcoming major motion picture.
The Minecraft accessory collection for Smiggle is currently available at Smiggle stores in Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, and the UK, as well as through the retailer’s official website.
Smiggle is a global retail brand and store chain that focuses on selling stationary and accessories. Smiggle products are known for their colorful designs and graphics.
The licensed Minecraft consumer product collection includes a branded backpack, a light trolley bag, lunchboxes, a pencil case, a wallet, a moneybox, keyrings, pen pops and a multi-charm slapband.
The product range also includes a digital clock with a light projector, a booksafe, a notebook, socks, a t-shirt and a four-piece stationery and accessory bundle.
