Millimages has announced several new licensing agreements and content sales in Latin America for its Molang entertainment brand.
Created by Korean illustrator Hye Ji Yoon, Molang is a cute, gender-neutral bunny that focuses on joy, compassion, and love.
Since its acquisition by Millimages in 2015, Molang’s international presence has expanded to include a TV series, social media initiatives, licensed merchandise, and more.
“We are thrilled to see how Molang is performing in Latin America and especially in Mexico,” said Millimages GM, Adrien Moretto. “This territory has had a huge community on social media from the very beginning and seeing that this success keeps on growing to content sales and merchandising makes it a great example to follow in other key territories.”
The Latin American licensing network, Tycoon Enterprises, has been appointed to represent the Molang brand in Mexico and IMC will expand its existing representation for the brand in Argentina to include the rest of Central and South America.
Tycoon Enterprises offers a full scope of licensing services such as brand development, retail, product distribution, promotional initiatives and more.
“There is an unequivocal love for Korean Kawaii-style properties amongst our millennial and Gen-Z consumers, and Mexican Molang fans are already legion,” said Tycoon VP, Dalia Benbassat. “We are certain Molang represents a magical opportunity for top retailers in the fashion, gift and houseware sectors, and we can’t wait to see our first lines of merchandise hit shelves!”
Licensing partnerships have already been secured in Mexico for Molang-themed kids apparel from E-Fashion and back-to-school products from American Bags.
Carnival Design has also signed a deal for Molang toys, novelties and party goods that will be distributed across Latin America.
“We couldn’t be more excited to begin our partnership with Millimages and the beautiful property Molang,” said Tycoon president, Elias Fasja. “Kind, gender-neutral, enduring characters full of positive messaging and zesty humor, Molang and Piu Piu hold the perfect formula to reach the hearts of Latin American viewers.”
In addition, the Molang TV series has been broadcast across the region on TV Azteca, Disney Junior, TV Cultura, Pluto, Kidoodle, TV Brazil and Amazon broadcasting networks.
The Globoplay streaming platform has also picked up season four of the series for distribution in Brazil.
Millimages Studio is an independent European animation and production studio.
The studio develops, produces, distributes and licenses multi-platform content based on its catalog of more than 75 IPs.
