The MoMA Design Store and MEDICOM TOY have partnered on a licensed BE@RBRICK figure set featuring Salvador Dalí’s artwork, The Persistence of Memory.
MEDICOM TOY is a Japanese company that specializes in manufacturing toys and collectibles. The company’s BE@RBRICK collectible figure brand was launched in 2001 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of teddy bears. Since the BE@RBRICK brand’s creation, MEDICOM has collaborated with numerous artists, companies, and brands to release licensed BE@RBRICK collectibles.
The new Salvador Dali-themed BE@RBRICK marks the second licensing partnership between MEDICOM TOY and the MoMa Design Store.
“Following the success of the Vincent van Gogh The Starry Night BE@RBRICK, we’re thrilled to be partnering a second time with MEDICOM TOY to present a BE@RBRICK inspired by one of Salvador Dali’s most iconic works,” said MoMa director, Robin Sayetta. “As a best-in-class manufacturer of toys and collectables, MEDICOM TOY successfully ensured The Persistence of Memory was represented as accurately as possible across each bear. We’re delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to bring an exemplary work from MoMA’s collection into their homes through this special iteration of Good Design.”
The Salvador Dalí BE@RBRICK figure will be available for purchase as paired figure sets that are 2.75″ tall and 11” tall. In addition, a single 27.5” tall Salvador Dalí BE@RBRICK figure will be available for $750.
The BE@RBRICK figures will feature detailed prints of Salvador Dalí’s surrealist painting, The Persistence of Memory, from The Museum of Modern Art’s collection.
The Salvador Dalí BE@RBRICK will be available for purchase online and at MoMA Design Store locations in Soho, Midtown and New York on June 23. The licensed collectible will debut in Japan and Hong Kong on June 24.
