TOKYOPOP has announced a third installment of The Nightmare Before Christmas graphic novel series based on the Disney-owned entertainment franchise.
The upcoming graphic novel will be called Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Battle For Pumpkin King.
The announcement of The Battle for Pumpkin King graphic novel follows the success of TOKYOPOP’s previous licensed Nightmare Before Christmas series, Zero’s Journey and Mirror Moon.
TOKYOPOP is an American distributor, licensor and publisher of anime, manga, manhwa and graphic novels.
The Battle for Pumpkin King is set before the events of the 1993 stop-motion film created by Tim Burton and Henry Selick for Touchstone Pictures, a film production label of Walt Disney Pictures. The Battle for Pumpkin King will focus on the tumultuous friendship-turned-rivalry between the characters Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie.
The upcoming graphic novel will be written by Dan Conner, with story by Shaun McLaughlin and D.J. Milky. The art will be handled by Deborah Allo and Roberto Scalia.
The licensed graphic novel will initially release as five single-issue comics beginning in March 2023. The full graphic novel will be available for purchase beginning on Halloween 2023 and will feature all five comics.
