Wasserman Music has partnered with Howard University for the second iteration of its Entertainment Accelerator Experience program.
Wasserman Music is a global talent management company that represents musical artists for live performances, touring, brand partnerships and more.
“We are excited to work with Wasserman on this Entertainment Accelerator because it will afford our students an opportunity to learn from industry professionals at the top of their respective fields and to get invaluable hands-on experience through internship opportunities with Wasserman and its industry partners,” said Howard University Prof, Pat Parks.
This year’s Entertainment Accelerator program will be hosted at Howard University in Washington, DC, one of the nation’s foremost historically Black universities. Howard University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of health, science, engineering, fine arts, law, and education.
For this year’s program, Wasserman Music has planned a 10-week curriculum covering different aspects of the music industry such as management, talent buying, tour promotions, songwriting, publishing and more.
The curriculum will also feature an array of guest lectures from music industry executives and internship placements for students considering careers in the music and entertainment industry.
“We couldn’t be more excited to connect with the promising students at one of the country’s most prestigious schools to help set them on the path to launching successful music industry careers,” said Wasserman Music EVP, Lee Anderson.
“We want to help grow the next generation of industry leaders to create a lasting impact on the music business.”
The previous year’s Music Accelerator Program took place at Nashville’s Tennessee State University in May. Plans are currently underway to continue the Tennessee State program in 2023.
“Engaging with future leaders in the business is so important to me and to Wasserman,” said Wasserman Music VP, Callender.
“We want to create access and opportunities to learn from some of the smartest people we know, to foster a meaningful and well-rounded understanding of our business for Howard students.”
This initiative is the latest of several commitments Wasserman Music has made through their partnership with national advocacy organization Color of Change and their #ChangeMusic platform.
The 2023 Music Accelerator Program at Howard University runs from Jan. 25 to Feb. 24 and March 13 to April 17.
