The French animation house known for Molang has appointed Adrien Moretto as General Manager.
Moretto, 29, was promoted to the new role this week at the animation house Millimages, the producer of international hits like 64 Rue Du Zoo, Corneil & Bernie, Lascars, Louie, and Molang. Moretto was formerly the Head of Legal and then General Secretary.
In his new position, Moretto plans to pursue the strategy implemented for 32 years by Millimages’ founder Roch Lener, which is to transform every one of the studio’s intellectual properties into a transmedia experience for viewers.
The studio has already successfully implemented this strategy for their popular property Molang, with creative content for TV and platforms, viral content for social media and a wide range of derivative products.
Moretto says he plans to intensify the creation of content exclusive to new media, and to continue developing his network of licensees, all the while continuing to develop and produce high-quality traditional productions.
Moretto is now one of the youngest general managers in the French audiovisual industry, but comes to the role with a deep well of experience.
With a master’s degree in business law and an MBA in audiovisual production, Adrien Moretto began his career in the world of audiovisual production in the legal department of Cofiloisirs, a company specializing in the financing of audiovisual and film projects. In 2018, he joined Millimages’ Business Affairs department, before becoming the Group’s General Counsel in 2021, then General Secretary at the end of 2022.
Millimage was established in Paris in 1991 as an independent animation and production studio. The studio prides itself on developing, producing, distributing, and licensing high quality content cross-media, with over 75 IPs generating more than 10 million daily views.
Licensing Street to Represent MOLANG in the United States
Millimages also recently appointed US agency Licensing Street to represent its MOLANG brand in North America.
MOLANG is already an international TV, social media, licensing, and merchandising phenomena
with over 950 consumer products from 80-plus licensees, and 312 animated episodes broadcast
worldwide.
In the US the brand has had wide exposure and engagement to date with 85 million views on YouTube Kids and almost a million on the adult YouTube channel. In the US in 2023 alone, Molang reached 380K Tik Tok subscribers, 78K on Instagram and 32K on Facebook, while the six animated series have been aired in the US on Disney Junior, Netflix, Hulu, Kidoodle TV, Playground, and Hopster.
“We are delighted that MOLANG will join Licensing Street’s list of outstanding and successful IPs,” said
Alexandra Algard Mikanowski, Licensing & Merchandising Director at Millimages. “Licensing Street’s approach to L&M, in particular their strength in retail development, is an ideal match for this iconic brand as it builds on its huge popularity with Gen Z and millennial audiences, both on social and on shelves. We look forward to working together to ensure every American fan has a gorgeous MOLANG plushie by the end of the year!”
