Lids Sports Group has officially appointed long-time employee Bob Durda as the company’s new president.
Lids Sports Group is a sports retailer that offers officially-licensed and branded headwear, apparel and accessories for sports fans. It is among the largest licensees in the world for licensed apparel, and particularly for hats and sports-branded accessories.
The company currently operates over 2,000 retail locations in seven countries worldwide. Lids Sports Group is owned by the private holding company Ames Watson.
“Bob is a seasoned veteran and a brilliant creative mind,” said Ames Watson co-founder, Lawrence Berger, Co-Founder and Partner at and Chairman of FanzzLids Holdings. “His proven track record shows that there is no one better to lead Lids and take us to the next level as a global brand.”
Durda has worked for Lids Sports Group for the past 13 years having sold Sport Fan-Attic, a company he co-founded, to Lids in 2009. Prior to his appointment to company president, Durda held the positions of buying director and SVP of merchandising.
“It’s an exciting time for Lids, and I’m thrilled to begin my new role alongside a dynamic and supportive team,” said Durda. “Being at Lids for over a decade has given me the opportunity to leverage my expertise as both a retailer and merchant, and I now look forward to continually position the company for growth.”
As president, Durda will continue to drive Lids growth by seeking international brand partnerships and bringing new licensed products to market.
