The successful sleepwear licensee, Komar, has promoted veteran licensing executive Maya Assis to Vice President of Licensing.
Assis will be responsible for leading all licensing deals for the brand.
“This is very exciting,” says Assis. “Komar is always growing, they’re family run and they’re very open with how they operate the business. It’s great to be a part of this company.”
After graduating from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Assis worked for prominent companies such as CNN and the Cartoon Network.
Assis has over 12 years of experience in the consumer products industry. Her consumer products experience includes manufacturing, brand development, and retail development.
Throughout her career, she has specialized in the categories of fashion, toys, accessories and more. Assis officially started her licensing career in Tel Aviv, Israel after her time with Turner Broadcasting.
“I thought sleepwear was just an amazing next step because I’d never really been on that side of apparel,” says Assis. “I was in accessories for many years. I love that sleepwear is all demographics. It’s very exciting for me to be able to work with infant properties as well as holiday properties now, brands I had never had experience with. It’s a lot of fun. Komar is a powerhouse and I look forward to growing the business in both fashion and character sleepwear.”
Komar is known for producing, manufacturing, and distributing sleepwear and intimate apparel. The company manages a global portfolio of over 100 licensed, owned, and private-label apparel brands
Before starting at Komar last year as Vice President of Licensing, Assis worked as the Licensing Director for Accutime. Assis was also named on the 2018 Influentials list for License Global.
