Georges Fornay, the deputy CEO of the music platform Qobuz, has been added to Billboard’s 2023 International Power Players List.
Founded in 2007, Qobuz is a France-based music streaming and download platform. The Quobay platform is currently available in 26 countries across the globe and features a catalog of over 100 million tracks.
Since Fornay was appointed as deputy CEO of the company in 2020, Qobuz has expanded its offering to include numerous exclusive releases, events, and premium editorial features such as artist interviews and human-curated playlists.
Fornay has also overseen the expansion of Qobuz into Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, the Nordic countries, and Canada. This expansion, which largely took place throughout the last two years, has more than doubled the number of markets where Qobuz is available.
Fornay has also assisted in Qobuz’ international growth strategy in Asia with the acquisition of the high-re music download platform e-onkyo music through Qobuz’ parent company, Xandrie SA.
“I am extremely honored by this distinction,” said Fornay. “Over the past three years, we have significantly accelerated our international expansion; now music lovers and audiophiles not just in Europe and the United States but in North Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, and now Canada, can enjoy our high-quality music plans,” added Fornay. “I’m also proud of our service and team’s continual focus on sound quality, editorial richness, and cutting-edge recommendations.”
Billboard’s 2023 International Power Players List is intended to celebrate the accomplishments of executives throughout the global music industry.
