Spielwarenmesse eG has appointed Carol Rapp as its new joint director for the company’s subsidiary, Friedhelm Merz Verlag.
Friedhelm Merz Verlag is a German gaming event company that was acquired as a subsidiary by Spielwarenmesse eG in early 2022.
Rapp will assume joint responsibility of Friedhelm Merz Verlag with the two existing directors, Dominique Metzler and Florian Hess, for the organization and ongoing development of the Internationale Spieltage SPIEL board game trade fair.
Internationale Spieltage SPIEL is an annual four-day long board game trade exhibition that takes place in Essen, Germany. It is known as the largest annual board game event in the world.
“My style of working can be characterised as working with others to achieve goals and always learning something new in the process,” said Carol Rapp.
“I’m very much looking forward to my new position and the work at SPIEL that it will involve. It is a perfect opportunity to bring in all my prior expertise in the field of toys and games and also introduce forward-thinking new ideas.”
Rapp will use her extensive management experience in the board game sector to expand Friedhelm Merz Verlag’s existing events, as well as provide new ideas for growth. The Friedhelm Merz Verlag team will be further augmented in the coming months.
Spielwarenmesse eG is an international trade fair organizer and marketing services provider for the toys and games industry. The company is best known for organizing the Nuremberg Toy Fair called Spielwarenmesse. Spielwarenmesse eG operates a global network of representatives in over 90 countries.
