WildBrain CPLG has secured new licensees for Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat, to support the animated feature film that will debut in 2026.
The expanded licensing program for The Cat in the Hat includes new international partners across a wide range of product categories and retail markets.
The new Cat in the Hat’s licensing partners include Adidas and Brand International for footwear, Commonwealth Mint for collectible coins, Winning Moves and RMS International for tabletop games, Danilo for greeting cards and Pyramid International for stationary and gifts.
The first collection to debut for the licensing program is an exclusive The Cat in the Hat-inspired shoe from the Adidas brand.
Available in adult shoe sizes, the new Adidas x Dr. Seuss footwear was released at Foot Locker and Champs retail stores across the U.S. starting on July 17.
“Everyone loves The Cat in the Hat and with the upcoming film, traction for the brand continues to build at retail,” said WildBrain CPLG VP, John Taylor. “The Adidas collaboration really shows the creative opportunity for products based on this playful property with such a rich heritage. We’re seeing consistent demand for iconic franchises with proven appeal, and Dr Seuss’ IP continues to drive multi-generational licensing partnerships.”
Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Wildbrain CPLG have also planned an extensive marketing and PR campaign to support the launch of the licensing program and animated film.
The upcoming The Cat in the Hat feature film is a co-production from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
Marking The Cat in the Hat’s big-screen animated debut, the film will follow the adventures of The Cat character as he brings joy to a pair of siblings who are grappling with significant life changes.
The rights to The Cat in the Hat franchise are owned by the global children’s entertainment and licensing company, Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
Founded in 1993, Dr. Seuss Enterprises focuses on promoting literacy, education and self-confidence through the works of Dr. Seuss.
All of the profits generated from Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ productions are used to benefit non-profit organizations that focus on charitable causes such as education, health, animal conservation and the arts.
