The adoption of NFT collectibles has been one of the hottest trends in licensing this year, and now two major children’s brands have launched their own programs.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Feisty Pets announced they have entered into partnerships for non-fungible token (NFT) collectible programs.
Dr. Seuss says it has partnered with Dapper Labs, the company behind CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot, and Tibles, a first-mover NFT collectibles startup.
The partners announced this week they have brought the whimsical world of Seuss to the Flow blockchain with the launch of the Seussibles mobile app. Seussibles is a digital experience for mobile and web that gives fans the opportunity to own non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of their favorite Dr. Seuss characters including The Cat in The Hat, the Lorax, the Grinch, and Horton.
Inside Seussibles, fans will be able to acquire and trade Seuss NFTs as well as connect with other fans and show off their collections. The experience is available today for fans aged 18+ for iOS. There will also be a web version of Seussibles in the near future.
“We are always looking for new ways for fans to immerse themselves in the iconic Dr. Seuss characters they love,” said Susan Brandt, President of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “More people than ever are building collections in the digital world and it seemed like a natural next step for us to collaborate with Dapper Labs and Tibles on this endeavor. We want to meet our fans where they are, and we’re excited to have our line-up of NFTs very accessible to everyone.”
The Seussibles app can be found on the iOS App Store and offers fans a simple way to collect NFTs, even for those with no experience in buying or selling the tokens.
“Drawing on the idea of the sticker collections we used to have during childhood, the new experience is designed to hit the right balance of nostalgia and discovery in an innovative, new digital format,” the partners said in a statement. “Fans can start off by visiting the shop to purchase NFTs, which come in blind five-packs starting at $4.99 (US). Once fans have checked their pack they can view their new acquisitions in virtual sticker books and place them on the wall in their Room where other users can see their collection. Fans can also join the Clubhouse to chat with other fans about collectibles, visit Trading to barter and swap collectibles, and showcase and share their favorites on social media.”
To start, fans will have the opportunity to purchase more than 600 collectibles featuring fan favorites from The Cat in The Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Socks, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Horton Hears a Who!, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, The Lorax, Hop on Pop, and Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?. All NFTs are stored on the Flow blockchain and early next year, fans will have the opportunity to buy and sell their collectibles on a secondary peer-to-peer web-based marketplace.
“We’re thrilled to work with great partners like Tibles to launch unique NFT experiences that give consumers a new way to engage with their favorite brands,” said Caty Tedman, Head of Partnerships at Dapper Labs. “We look forward to watching Dr. Seuss fans experience the joy of collecting NFTs on Flow while connecting with other fans to show off their collections.”
Chronicle Secures Exclusive NFT Distribution Rights for Feisty Pets
This week also saw the digital collectibles platform Chronicle signing a partnership agreement with Feisty Pets to be the exclusive distributor for their upcoming NFT drops.
Feisty Pets are a viral toy sensation from the William Mark Corporation that puts a unique twist on the classic stuffed plush toy. Created by Mark Forti in 2016, the adorable, snuggly pets go from cute to ferociously funny with a squeeze of the back of their head, their doe eyes and friendly smiles transforming into fierce scowls before your eyes.
The plush pets have become a hot collectible item, and Chronicle is now working with the team at William Mark Corporation to provide a digital NFT option.
“We’re excited to work with Mark Forti and his team to bring these unique and memorable characters into the NFT metaverse,” said Tim Glover, CEO and co-founder of Chronicle. “Our partnership with Feisty Pets is the start of Chronicle’s journey to offer NFTs for the world’s most popular toys and games.”
The Feisty Pets family includes colorful characters like Glenda Glitterpoop, Sammy Suckerpunch (pictured) and Princess Pottymouth, all with personalized backstories including their likes and dislikes. Their mischievous adventures are chronicled on Feisty Pets’ TikTok and YouTube channels, which have amassed 1.3 million followers and over 268 million views of #FeistyPets on TikTok and nearly 500,000 subscribers generating over 35 million video views on YouTube.
They were recognized as Toy of the Year by BuzzFeed in their first year on the market and were Amazon’s top selling plush toy on Cyber Monday.
Chronicle is a next-generation digital collectables marketplace featuring officially licensed digital collectables, more commonly known as NFTs. Chronicle makes it easy for anyone to buy, sell, trade, and gift authenticated digital collectables directly licensed from the world’s leading brands. It’s powered by XNL, a utility token specially designed for the Chronicle community offering rewards and incentives to users of the platform.
Although Chronicle is set to be blockchain agnostic, Chronicle has made the decision to utilize the Aurora EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) built by NEAR Protocol for their environmental awareness. Unlike high-energy Proof of Work systems, Aurora is based on NEAR Protocol’s Proof of Stake driven technology and is committed to reducing their carbon footprint with a tree-planting offset program.
