Dead By Daylight has partnered with manga artist Junji Ito to launch licensed in-game character cosmetics inspired by his award-winning horror stories.
Junji Ito is a Japanese manga artist and author that has been terrifying horror fans with his distinctive art style and his imaginative tales since 1987.
Ito’s extensive selection of stories offer a unique combination of supernatural surrealism, cosmic dread and gruesome body horror.
Officially released on January 7, the Junji Ito Collection includes eight in-game outfits based on characters from Ito’s vast portfolio of scary stories.
This includes characters and imagery from The Hanging Balloons, Soichi’s Convenient Curse, The Marionette Mansion, Fashion Model, Tomie, Mysterious Tunnel and The Strange Hikizuri Siblings.
The full Junji Ito collection includes five monstrous outfits for Dead By Daylight’s villainous Killers and three fashionable additions for the game’s survivors.
For Dead By Daylight’s survivor characters, the in-game outfits include Tsukiko’s Uniform for Yui Kimura, Terumi’s Fame for Yun-Jin Lee and Puppet’s Troubled Ballet for Kate Denson.
The licensed cosmetics for Dead By Daylight’s killers include Miss Fuchi for The Artist, Tomie for The Spirit, Hikizuri’s Dark Past for The Twins, Soichi’s Party Clothes for The Trickster and Half Spirits’ Torment for The Dredge.
“I had the opportunity to experience playing Dead by Daylight,” said Junji Ito. “The characters I created become killers and do some very horrible things in the game. It was very moving to see that they had become even more terrifying characters after leaving my hands.”
Created by Behaviour Interactive, Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer action horror game that allows players to take on the role of either a monstrous killer or a resourceful survivor in a deadly game of hide and seek.
With approximately 60 million active players around the world, Dead By Daylight has developed an extensive in-game universe that features both original creations and licensed character brands.
This includes global brands such as Ringu, Stranger Things, Resident Evil, Halloween, Chucky and more.
