Australian food manufacturer Green’s has partnered with the Bega Group for a licensed Vegemite Choc Chunk Brownie baking mix.
“We are incredibly excited to be partnering with everyone’s favorite spread Vegemite to launch Green’s Vegemite Choc Chunk Brownie,” said Green’s Peta Allsopp. “Our baking team has expertly blended the mitey taste of Vegemite with delicious rich chocolate to deliver a mouth-watering salted caramel-flavored brownie that is sure to satisfy big and little Vegemites.”
Vegemite is a savory food spread that is created using brewer’s yeast, vegetable additives, and assorted spices. Originally developed by Cyril Callister in 1922, Vegemite gained substantial popularity in Australia during WWII due to its nutritional value and inclusion in Australian army rations.
The Vegemite brand was acquired by the Bega Group in 2017. The Bega Group, also known as Bega Cheese, is an Australian food and drink company that specializes in spreads, dairy, and grocery products.
“Vegemite and chocolate is a MITEY match made in heaven,” said Vegemite manager, Jess Hoare. “Vegemite truly is the taste of Australia, wonderful in savoury recipes and delightful in brownies. We’re super excited to be partnering with Green’s to bring the VegemiteChoc Chunk Brownie to Australia!
“Whether you’re a long-standing fan of Vegemite, or have a passion for trialling the unexpectedly wonderful – we hope you love this product.”
The Green’s VEGEMITE Choc Chunk Brownie is currently available for purchase at Coles Supermarkets and independent grocers in the region. The co-branded brownie mix will be available in Woolworths retail locations beginning April 24, 2023.
