The Licensing Connection has been appointed as the exclusive global licensing agent for the Oscar-winning film Flow.
Directed by Gints Zilbalodis, the Latvian film was the upset winner for Best Animated Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
Licensing Connection says the agreement marks a significant step in expanding the reach of the critically acclaimed animated film beyond the screen.

Flow is known for its striking animation and emotionally resonant storytelling, following a diverse group of animals navigating a flood and forming bonds of friendship and survival. The film has garnered widespread praise for its themes of transformation and connection, appealing to audiences of all ages.
Anita Thomas, a former Disney and Universal Studios executive, has been tapped to lead the licensing efforts. Thomas, who has extensive experience in the entertainment licensing industry, sees parallels between Flow and the early days of Disney animation, particularly in the way small, passionate teams bring innovative storytelling to life.
“The film’s distinctive animal cast of characters offers a rich tapestry of themes and licensing opportunities,” said Thomas. “We can all relate to the traits of these animals. For adults, the film provides a contemplative escape into the theme of overcoming one’s fears. For children, it reinforces the joy of making friends and embracing togetherness.”
Under The Licensing Connection’s leadership, Flow is set to expand into a lifestyle brand, with plans for merchandise including plush toys, apparel, and pet products. The agency also aims to develop promotional partnerships, retail collaborations, and immersive fan experiences.
The film was produced by Dream Well Studios, an independent Latvian animation company founded by Zilbalodis, alongside French production house Sacrebleu and Belgium-based Take Five Productions.
Founded in 2006, The Licensing Connection is a Toronto-based consumer products licensing and promotions agency with a global network.
