The London Studio has partnered with Flame Tree Publishing for a licensed product collection featuring the Art of Drag.
The licensing deal between the two companies was managed by KJG Ltd on behalf of The London Studio, alongside BlueSkye Licensing.
“I was over the moon when Flame Tree loved the Art of Drag designs I showed them,” said KJG Ltd’s Kirsty Guthrie.
“They immediately saw a fabulous product range in the offing! The ‘va va voom’ art and wonderful products combine perfectly to glam up anyone’s day—and will do just that when they launch later this year.”
Flame Tree Publishing is a UK-based publishing company that specializes in books, calendars, and stationary. Flame Tree will produce a calendar, jigsaw and notebook collection inspired by the Art of Drag brand. The licensed product collection will be released globally by Flame Tree and its international network of distributors.
“We are so excited to be publishing Art of Drag and working with Soula at The London Studio,” said Flame Tree’s Frances Bodiam.
“The artwork is gorgeous and fun and works so well with the rest of our gift and calendars programmes. They will be a truly wonderful source of inspiration for the 2024 calendar, jigsaw and Flame Tree notebook planned for later this year.”
The London Studio’s Art of Drag brand takes inspiration from historical portraits which are replaced with stylized images of Drag Queens. The reimagined illustrations for the brand include inspiration from well-known art pieces such as Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeers’ Girl with a Pearl Earring, Munch’s The Scream, and more.
The 2024 Art of Drag calendar will launch at Spring Fair, followed by the jigsaw and notebook shortly after. The products will be available for purchase at independent gift shops, bookstores, selected fashion retailers and gallery gift shops beginning in the winter of 2023.
The licensed product range will target a core market of young adults, with a secondary market among teens and tweens.
“Flame Tree is very well-known for its incredible art licenses and the high-quality of its products, so I’m very proud to announce Flame Tree as our first global licensee for Art of Drag,” said London Studio founder, Soula Zavacopoulos.
“And there’s much more to come from this brand. The potential for Art of Drag-inspired printed products is huge. After all, who wouldn’t want a bit more glam in their daily life?”
