Pair Eyewear has launched a limited-edition art-inspired top frame collection in partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Pair Eyewear is a direct-to-consumer eyewear brand that focuses on developing, manufacturing and marketing glasses and accessories with their patented switchable top frame customization feature.
Pair was the first company to invent switchable top frames that can be easily attached and detached from base eyewear products.
The officially licensed Pair Eyewear capsule collection features 16 new top frame designs that are inspired by paintings, sculptures and tapestries from The Met’s archive of historical art pieces.
The licensed artworks featured in the top frame collection include works such as Monet’s Water Lilies, Cézanne’s Apples & Primroses, Renoir’s Bouquet of Chrysanthemums, Tiepolo’s Allegory of the Planets and more.
“At Pair, we are always thinking about how to bring more personality into eyewear,” said Pair Eyewear co-CEO, Sophia Edelstein. “This collection, which brings some of the world’s most acclaimed art to the eyewear industry, speaks directly to the core of our values as we seek to breathe joy into eyewear.”
Initially founded in 1870, The Met is an American institution and gallery that is dedicated to providing art education and displays to the public through its extensive historical archive.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art displays tens of thousands of cultural artifacts and artistic works across approximately 5,000 years of human history.
The Museum currently operates two NYC locations, The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters, in addition to an online museum experience through its official website.
“We are honored to be entrusted by The Met to bring this collection, which pays homage to their renowned collection of art, to life,” said Pair Eyewear co-CEO, Nathan Kondamuri.
The deal between the two companies was brokered by Beanstalk as the exclusive licensing agency for The Met across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Japan. The collaborative partnership with The Met Gallery follows Pair Eyewear’s recent announcement that they have expanded the brand’s direct-to-consumer business to reach Australia and the UK.
Pair Eyewear also intends to launch additional eyewear technology patents, limited-edition drops and licensed designs throughout the remainder of 2024.
