Toy and play giant Hasbro has just released a new cover of Katy Perry’s monster hit “Roar” by the Queen of Preschool herself, Peppa Pig.
In return, Katy Perry has released a cover of Peppa Pig’s big hit, “Oink.” (Okay, we just made that up, but wouldn’t that be great?)
Peppa Pig’s music video and the song track are now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Hasbro says this is the first time Peppa Pig has released a cover song, but adds the song “Roar” was the perfect choice for Peppa Pig, as it’s about “finding your voice, knowing yourself and standing your ground—no matter how young or small you are.”
As well, the lyrics from the original track have been cleverly adapted to suit young audiences and Peppa Pig fans, with two lines changed to “Even the littlest pig can have the loudest roar” and “A little confidence goes a long way.”
The song joins other recent Peppa music releases that aim to help build confidence among children, like “The Best Day,” which provides children with preschool-friendly affirmations to help them go confidently into their day; and “Let’s Jump In,” which brings the Peppa Pig tagline to life and encourages children to jump into life’s first experiences with enthusiasm and a sense of curiosity.
The song release is one of the many activations Hasbro has undertaken as part of the 20th anniversary of Peppa Pig. It’s also just one of the ways Peppa has collaborated with pop star Katy Perry.
In fact, Peppa’s version of “Roar” has been released just after Perry’s debut as voice talent, playing the part of Ms. Leopard in the three-part Peppa Pig Wedding Special, which sees Mr. Bull and Mrs. Cow surprise everyone with their wedding announcement, and their friends and family work to make it a memorable event.
