The RHS has partnered with Crane Garden Buildings to develop a collection of licensed outdoor structures that will start with an RHS Cube studio.
Inspired by the RHS Hilltop horticultural science centre, the licensed RHS Cube will offer customers a fully-insulated space that can be personalized to suit their needs and preferences.
Made to order at Crane’s workshops, the licensed garden building can be customized with different partitions, verandas, windows and electrical layouts.
“As a proudly Norfolk-based, family-run business, and a well-regarded producer of high-quality-timber garden buildings, we are thrilled to be working with the UK’s favourite gardening charity and gaining inspiration from its work and great gardens,” said Crane development manager, Peter Mortin. “The RHS Cube is a marvellous introduction to the RHS Garden Building Collection, which we are sure will receive a very enthusiastic reception from customers.”
Crane Garden Buildings is a family-owned business that manufactures a wide range of hand-crafted garden buildings in its Norfolk workshops.
The company is committed to incorporating sustainable practices such as repurposing over 95% of its waste for use in smaller products, heating or recycling.
Crane also works to reduce its emissions by using traceable lumber, water-based paints, fuel-efficient vans and solar power for its workshop and offices.
“Sustainability is also top of the agenda for many, including us, as we use high-quality products for durability lasting decades, eco-friendly materials and responsible building practices to minimise our environmental impact,” said Mortin. “We are also registered with the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), meaning that we endorse and promote sustainable forestry practices.”
The RHS Cube garden studio is the first in a full collection of licensed garden building from Crane.
Scheduled to debut by the end of 2026, the collection will offer a variety of sustainably-built designs to suit different gardens and lifestyles.
“Experience, expertise and reputation are important when choosing a partner in the garden buildings business, and Crane has high ratings in all three,” said RHS licensing manager, Cathy Snow. “We are delighted to be working with Crane on the distinctive and highly desirable RHS Cube and a garden building collection that we are sure will continue to surprise and delight in the coming year.”
Launching at select Crane show sites this spring, the RHS Cube can be viewed through major horticultural events such as the RHS’s Malvern Spring Festival, the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival and the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Prior to this partnership, Crane has had a long association with the RHS by showcasing its range of handmade garden buildings through the organization’s annual Chelsea Flower Show.
