Snore With Snorlax As Mimaru Hotels Expand Its Pokémon Rooms

February 5, 2026

The Mimaru hotel brand has just announced it will be renovating and expanding its popular ‘Pokémon Rooms’, so aspiring trainers can kick back and relax after a hard day trying to catch ’em all.

Mimaru is a leader in Japan for apartment-style hotels, and is owned by Cosmos Hotel Management, which has held a licensing deal with Pokémon for several years.

The popularity of the Pokémon-themed rooms in Japan led management to expand the program. The Mimaru hotel now features 100 Pokémon integrated into the rooms, offering an even more magical experience for fans from around the world. If there are any Pokémon trainers in your family, Mimaru is now accepting reservations through the end of November 2026.

Each room includes a life-sized plushie of the popular Pokémon character Snorlax, to help usher guests to dream land.

Originally launched in 2019, the Pokémon Rooms have been a standout favorite for families, Pokémon enthusiasts, and travelers seeking unique accommodations. The latest renovation emphasizes two core themes: “more Pokémon” and “more fun for the whole family,” transforming each room into a vibrant space where Pokémon feel like they’ve leaped from their Poké Balls to join guests in daily life.

Pokémon Rooms are now available at 10 Mimaru properties across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, including new additions at the MIMARU TOKYO HATCHOBORI and MIMARU TOKYO IKEBUKURO.

In addition to entertaining fans with the Pokémon theme, the apartment-style rooms are ideal for families, as they provide spacious layouts with fully equipped kitchens, separate sleeping areas, and dining spaces.

So, what can you expect from a stay at a Pokémon Room?

First of all, a LOT of Pokémon!

Each room now has more than 100 Pokémon adorning the interiors, creating a fully immersive environment. There are also themed zones in each room. The  bathroom features tranquil Water-type Pokémon, while the kitchen showcases food-loving characters, perfect for meal preparation.

A highlight is a gigantic, life-sized Snorlax plushie which is usually found snoozing on the bed, and the rooms are heavily adorned with Poké Ball-inspired details on the custom dining tables, tableware (plates and mugs), and bed linens, which ensure the theme extends to every moment, including meals.

Different areas of the Pokémon Rooms have different themes. Bathrooms, for example, are decorated with images of Water Pokémon.

A lot of the Pokémon are cleverly hidden, encouraging some fun exploration for kids, while nostalgic elements from classic and newer generations appeal to adult fans.

Mimaru’s Pokémon Rooms cater especially to international visitors with comfortable, home-like amenities rarely found in traditional Japanese hotels, allowing guests to cook their own meals and relax in generous spaces. As an exclusive perk, every stay includes special-edition Mimaru-original merchandise, such as themed fabric bags and collectible items.

Conveniently located near major tourist attractions, shopping districts and transportation hubs, Mimaru properties make it easy for guests to explore Japan by day and return to their Pokémon-filled sanctuary at night.

The hotel chain says feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with increased bookings from families, young couples, and long-time Pokémon fans alike. Many describe the experience as “living in the Pokémon world,” creating lasting memories beyond a typical hotel stay.
