The entertainment company Toikido has partnered with Ladybird Books for a collection of Piñata Smashlings-themed published content.
The Piñata Smashlings IP was created and developed by Toikido’s in-house design team as part of the company’s larger Piñataverse franchise. The company plans to extend the Piñata Smashlings brand through licensed content in the categories of collectibles, card games, animated series, retail promotions, video games, and more.
“Piñata Smashlings is an exciting and immersive IP that will provide children with the opportunity to truly connect the online play with the offline toy,” said Toikido founder, Darran Garnham.
“The new Piñata Smashlings Collector’s Guide is an excellent example of this and will play a fundamental role in encouraging children to continue to engage with Smashlings off screen,” Garnhama added. “As such, we are delighted to be working with such a reputable brand as Ladybird and look forward to delivering the first Smashlings book to children across the globe this autumn.”
Ladybird Books is a UK-based publishing company that specializes in childrens’ books for mass-market production. Ladybird is owned by the multinational publishing conglomerate, Penguin Random House.
“It’s rare we see a brand that so instantly captures the imaginations of everyone across the business, so we couldn’t be more excited to be joining Toikido on this smashing new adventure into the Piñataverse, starting with our Collector’s Guide to the Piñata Smashlings just in time for Christmas this year,” said Ladybird publishing director, Leanne Gill.
The licensing deal between Ladybird and Toikido includes a three-year licence for the worldwide publishing rights to the Piñata Smashlings IP.
The first book in the product line is called the Piñata Smashlings Collector’s Guide, which is expected to hit stores in November 2023.
