The Emmy Award-winning breakout series Severance is marking its second season with a slate of consumer products in 2023.
The wide-ranging collection of products for the show’s avid fan base were created after the program appointed IMG as its exclusive global licensing representative.
“Severance is one of the most exciting and gripping shows of recent times,” said IMG President of Licensing Bruno Maglione. “We look forward to collaborating with FIFTH SEASON to engage Severance viewers beyond the screen with a merchandise program that brings the show’s principal themes to life in original products.”
Severance quickly became a global hit celebrated by critics and audiences alike after its debut in February last year.
Created by Dan Erickson and produced by global film and TV studio FIFTH SEASON, the Ben Stiller-directed sci-fi thriller has been a favorite during awards season. The show picked up eight wins and more than 50 nominations, including 14 Primetime Emmy nominations. The show also recently received Golden Globe, SAG, PGA, DGA, ADG and WGA nominations and it is a 2022 AFI Awards television honoree.
Production is now starting on the highly anticipated second season, which will answer some of the confounding mysteries in the strange world of Severance … and undoubtedly create even more questions.
“We are excited to extend the Severance experience off-screen with a variety of new products inspired by the series’ creativity and innovation,” said Noah Greenshner, the EVP of Television Development and Production at FIFTH SEASON. “Along with our partners at IMG, we can’t wait for fans around the world to take their connection to the show, this unique world, to the next level.”
If you haven’t seen it, Severance explores what happens when people working in a strange and seemingly pointless work environment agree to a procedure that erases their memories twice a day. The version of the person who goes to work doesn’t remember what happened while at home, and the version at home doesn’t remember what happened at work.
The central character Mark Scout increasingly begins to question the strange goings on at the office, and teams up with his co-workers to unravel the truth behind the Severance procedure.
