Mattel has revealed a new line of Masters of the Universe: Chronicles action figures for the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film.
The new movie will debut in theaters on June 5 in a major reboot of the popular franchise. The announcement was made at the Spielwarenmesse toy fair as part of Mattel’s global rollout for the toy line, which aims to appeal to both longtime fans of the franchise and new audiences drawn by the upcoming cinematic reboot.
Dubbed the Chronicles series, the new collection reflects film-accurate designs and premium packaging to honor the franchise’s legacy. Each figure is crafted with approximately 30 points of articulation, high-quality accessories and detailed sculpts that echo the looks of characters as they appear in the live-action movie.
The lineup includes all of the primary characters from the film, including He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Evil-Lyn, Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, and Battle Cat.
“Masters of the Universe has accompanied generations of fans for over 40 years, and this special connection is still palpable today,” said Sebastian Trischler, Managing Director of Mattel DACH. “It is a great responsibility for us to further develop this world while preserving its core. Based on the film, we are developing high-quality products with great care and a high standard of design and detail that consistently align with the expectations of fans and collectors.”
The Chronicles toys are scheduled to be available worldwide beginning May 2026 at major retailers, ahead of the movie’s summer release. Additional products and announcements tied to the Masters of the Universe franchise are expected throughout the year via MattelCreations.com and @MattelCreations social media channels.
The Masters of the Universe live-action film marks one of the most ambitious adaptations of the classic toy and media franchise, which first launched in 1982 and went on to spawn cartoons, comics and earlier feature attempts.
Directed by Travis Knight (known for ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ and ‘Bumblebee’), the movie brings the mythic world of Eternia to life through a blend of fantasy, action and character-driven storytelling.
Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam, who becomes the legendary hero He-Man, tasked with defending his homeworld against assault by the forces of Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto.
Alongside them, the film features a notable ensemble: Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, plus James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley and others in supporting roles.
The story centers on Prince Adam’s rediscovery of his origins and heroic destiny. After being separated from his Sword of Power as a child, he must return to Eternia to confront Skeletor’s tyranny and rally allies like Teela and Man-At-Arms in a fight for freedom.
Amazon MGM Studios is distributing the film in the United States and Canada, with Sony Pictures handling international release. The project represents a major franchise revival and is one of several high-profile toy-to-film adaptations set to debut in 2026.
