Konami Cross Media NY has partnered with King Ice and YoungLA for licensed Yu-Gi-Oh! jewelry and apparel inspired by California streetwear and hip hop culture.
King Ice is a streetwear-inspired jewelry brand that has launched numerous licensed collections for well-known brands and musicians.
This includes collaborations with entertainment IP and hip-hop artists such as the Wu-Tang Clan, Sonic the Hedgehog, Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G. and more.
King Ice has been selected by Konami to create an exclusive collection of chains, pendants, bracelets and rings inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime and manga franchise.
YoungLA is a lifestyle apparel brand that focuses on creating high-quality activewear and streetwear fashion collections.
YoungLA has been slated to launch a co-branded apparel collection based on themes and characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! entertainment franchise.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! x YoungLA collection will feature a range of apparel products including t-shirts, shorts, joggers, hoodies and fleece sweaters.
“Working with King Ice and YoungLA provides the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand with new product categories that appeals to the Gen Z demographic, who are actively engaging with the IP,” said Konami Cross Media NY VP, Jennifer Coleman. “For over a decade, King Ice has been the leading industry tastemaker in creating premium wearable art that bridges the gap between artist, culture and people while YoungLA are producing premium quality apparel at an affordable price and we believe our fans will welcome a chance to own these product lines.”
First launched as a manga series by Kazuki Takahashi in 1996, Yu-Gi-Oh! follows a young boy named Yugi Mutou who is inhabited by the soul of an ancient spirit after activating a mysterious artifact called the Millennium Puzzle.
Throughout the series, Yugi and his friends have to face numerous challengers who wield other Millenium artifacts through dangerous card-based Shadow games.
Since its initial debut, the Yu-Gi-Oh! IP has expanded into a global multi-media entertainment franchise that includes numerous manga volumes, anime series, feature films, trading card games, licensed consumer products and more.
Konami Cross Media NY is responsible for handling the licensing rights for the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise outside of Asia.
