BOOM! Studios will release a four-issue limited comic book series based on the Creed film franchise from MGM.
The comic adaptation is being produced in collaboration with the MGM studio, Creed star Michael B. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society, and Chartoff-Winkler.
Jordan is also the director and producer of the recent Creed III release, which was not only the most-watched film in the trilogy, but the top sports film release of all time. He will serve as the creative director for the new story coming from BOOM! Studios.
Jordan will team up with some of the top writers in the business for this effort, including co-writers LaToya Morgan (Dark Blood, AMC’s Walking Dead) and Jai Jamison (Superman & Lois).
“I couldn’t say no at the opportunity to dive deeper into Adonis’ story—the story of the Creed dynasty,” said Morgan. “As a super fan of the Rocky and Creed franchises, this is a dream come true! I’m so excited for fellow fans to dive into this comic book goodness,”
“It’s been the opportunity of a lifetime to play in the sandbox with such an iconic franchise filled with incredible and complex characters,” added Jamison. “The art I’ve seen from Wilton has blown my mind. And to top it all off, I get to collaborate with my longtime friend and mentor, LaToya. I can’t wait for people to see what we got planned.”

The artwork will come from the acclaimed artist Wilton Santos (Break Out) and colorist DJ Chavis (Lunar Room), and executive producer Elizabeth Raposo, and the overall project will employ the talents of associate producer Christina Raquel of Outlier Society and Chartoff-Winkler.
This comic will be the first to bring the legendary boxer to life within the pages of a comic book, with release slated for June 2023. The announcement comes following the record-breaking theatrical release of MGM’s Creed III.
The story is very different from the Creed series, however, as it moves ahead 10 years after the events in Creed III. In the comic series, Adonis Creed is retired from the ring, but is working with his manager/wife Bianca to train their daughter Amara, who is now an amateur boxer.
The story takes a twist when Amara becomes frustrated with her parents’ reluctance to pit her against stronger and more dangerous opponents in the ring. Amara then seeks out a new trainer who can teach her to fight like Creed, but who won’t hold her back in the ring.
“As a huge fan of Rocky and Creed, this series is a dream project come to life with an absolute all-star team of creators and talent,” said Matt Gagnon of BOOM! Studios. “It’s humbling to be a part of the ongoing legacy, and we can’t wait for fans to discover what’s in store for the next generation of legendary champions.”
