Pudgy Penguins Make New LINE FRIENDS in Asian Partnership

October 6, 2026

By Gary Symons

TLL Editor-in-Chief

In a clear case of cuteness overload, Pudgy Penguins and LINE Friends minini have partnered on a limited-edition toy and collectible line.

The new product line, which combines characters from both brands interacting in a distinctly ‘LINE FRIENDLY’ way, is currently launching online and in retail stores across Asia.

Peter Lobanov, chief creative officer of Pudgy Penguins, said the collaboration grew out of imagining a crossover between the two character universes.

“We had so much fun imagining what would happen if Pax Pengu and Polly packed their bags, traveled to Asia, and met the LINE FRIENDS minini crew,” Lobanov said. “Character IP has become its own language for how people express affection.

“Pax Pengu and Polly meeting the LINE FRIENDS minini cast combines two of the world’s most beloved character universes speaking that language together for the first time.”

The partnership marks a continued push by the rapidly growing Pudgy Penguins franchise into the Asian character-goods market. Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins, said the collaboration reflects a deliberate strategy to expand in the region.

“Asia is home to some of the world’s most passionate character fans, and LINE FRIENDS minini has built an extraordinary platform for reaching them,” Netz said. “This collaboration represents an important step in the global expansion of Pudgy Penguins, introducing Pax Pengu and Polly through products and retail experiences designed for one of the most influential character markets in the world.

“We see tremendous opportunity to build a lasting presence across the region, and this is only the beginning.”

The collection brings Pudgy Penguins characters Pax Pengu and Polly together with LINE FRIENDS minini’s lineup, with designs built around themes of friendship and discovery. Pax Pengu and Polly, a pair of characters known among Pudgy Penguins fans as the “Collector Couple,” are featured throughout the collection.

The lineup includes four product sets. A plush pair, priced starting at $39.99, stands 8 inches tall and features Pax Pengu and Polly each holding a LINE FRIENDS minini character.

A vinyl figure set, also priced at $39.99, places the four characters together in a winter-themed scene.

A line of plush keyring blind boxes, priced at $19.99 each, includes six surprise designs pairing Pax Pengu and Polly with minini-inspired looks. A set of figure gel pens is priced at $5.99 each or $39.99 for a bundle.

The collection is available now at pudgypenguins.com, and will soon be rolled out to select LINE FRIENDS minini retail locations in Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo. The South Korea retail launch is scheduled for Oct. 27–30. Additional launch dates, participating stores, pricing, and product availability will be announced through the companies’ official social media channels.
