Renaissance Licensing has been appointed to represent the name, image and likeness rights of the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman.
Paul Newman is an acclaimed actor who is known worldwide for his Oscar-winning film performances, his accomplishments as a race car driver and his philanthropic work.
The actor’s charitable endeavours continue today through the Newman’s Own Foundation, which uses all the profits and royalties it receives from the sale of Newman’s Own and Paul Newman products to help kids and communities in need.
“Paul Newman remains one of the most admired and beloved figures in American culture,” said Renaissance Licensing partner, Liz Van Denburg Cohen. “We take pride in carrying forward legacies that deserve to endure.”
This new appointment will mark the first time that an external agency has been brought on board to steward and manage the publicity rights to Newman’s name, image and likeness.
Under this new appointment, Renaissance will use its experience in retail distribution, brand management, product development and partnership negotiation to create a licensing program that supports the charitable endeavours of Newman’s Own.
“Paul believed in authenticity and generosity in everything he did,” said Newman’s Own licensing EVP, Fabiana Gil. “Appointing Renaissance Licensing as our agent ensures those values guide how his image and legacy are represented today.”
Established by Paul Newman in 1982, the Newman’s Own Foundation is a private non-profit foundation that donates 100% of the profits and royalties it earns to charitable causes.
Since its creation, the privately-run grantmaking organization has donated over 600 million dollars to charitable partners.
Today, Newman’s Own’s grantee partners support causes that promote nutritious food in schools, advance Indigenous food justice and create medically inclusive camp experiences through the SeriousFun Children’s Network.
