Sesame Workshop has announced the promotion of Nishita Gupte to serve as its senior vice president of strategy and transformation.
In this new role, Gupte will lead the development and execution of the organization’s long-term strategy to adapt to the evolving landscape of modern childhood experiences.
Her work will focus on expanding the reach, relevance and engagement of Sesame Street content across its network of entertainment platforms, licensing partners and community initiatives.
“It’s a privilege to help steward an organization that has meant so much to generations of children and families, including mine,” said Gupte. “Our focus is on ensuring that Sesame continues to be a trusted and meaningful presence in the world, and I’m excited to work alongside our teams to strengthen how we deliver on our mission today and in the future.”
Throughout her career, Gupte has gained more than 15 years of experience working with mission-driven organizations across education, strategy and business operations.
This includes experience with designing, building and scaling education models, private equity and investment banking.
Gupte holds an MBA and an MA in Education from Stanford University and a BS in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Since joining Sesame Workshop, she has served the organization in senior leadership roles such as VP of US social impact & operations and VP of strategy & transformation.

Best-known as the creator of the Sesame Street franchise, Sesame Workshop is a global nonprofit organization that uses a combination of research, education and entertainment to support children’s health and well-being.
