Surge Brands Steps Into the Ring With Pillow Fight Championship

October 9, 2025

By Gary Symons

Surge Brands will provide some extra licensing punch as the new global agency for Pillow Fight Championship (PFC).

Like UFC but with pillows, PFC is a fast-growing sports entertainment property that combines intense combat sports action with some feathery, light-hearted fun.

Surge Brands notes PFC has rapidly captured global attention with its innovative twist on professional sports, delivering high-energy matches that are as fun to watch as they are competitive.

“We’re excited to partner with Pillow Fight Championship, a property that blends competitive spirit with mass-market appeal,” said Ari Freedman, Vice President of Surge Brands. “With its unique mix of athleticism, humor, and global entertainment potential, PFC is perfectly positioned for licensing success across categories from collectibles to lifestyle products.”

The licensing program aims to build on this momentum by extending the PFC brand into consumer products that resonate with its diverse and expanding fanbase.

In particular, data shows the PFC brand enjoys a considerable reach advantage among Gen-Z and Millennial fans. In fact, PFC’s innovative programming and strategic partnerships delivered a video knockout punch of over 2 billion video views in its first six weeks after launching in 2021.

“PFC events are already conducted in 12 countries, and we expect to expand the league to every country within a few years. Working with Surge’s Ari Freedman will help us to expand our valuable, visceral brand faster than any other sport in history,” said Steve Williams, founder and CEO of Pillow Fight Championship. “We’re excited to create products and experiences that reflect the energy, excitement, and fun of PFC for fans worldwide.”

Under the agreement, Surge Brands will develop and manage a comprehensive global licensing program for PFC across multiple categories, including toys, trading cards, video games, apparel, and accessories. And also, perhaps, pillows?

Pillow Fight Championship is the world’s first professional pillow fighting league featuring professional fighters engaging in intense, fast-paced combat.

Based on the age-old tradition of kids bouncing on their beds and whacking each other with pillows, PFC  isn’t just for professional fighters. The brand has developed a unique set of rules and regulations to complement its patent-pending and safe combat pillows which allow anyone, of any age, to participate. No word yet on the actual thread count for those combat pillows.

PFC pillow fighting has even been credited with being a great way to exercise, boosting strength, agility and cardiovascular health, while being safer and less violent than traditional combat sports. One can only imagine it would also be a great technique for self defence against any monsters in the closet.

Headquartered in New York, NY, Surge Brands is a sister company to Surge Licensing, and focuses on leveraging IP in the corporate and luxury brand, food, and confectionery spaces, strategically building franchises through global multi-platformed entertainment and product licensing programs.
